by Chuck Hoven

(Plain Press, November 2006) Former Ward 14 Councilman Nelson Cintron, Jr. was elected leader of the Ward 14 Democratic Club in a 10-7 vote at the October 18th meeting of the Ward Club. Cintron won the election over opposition candidate T. E. Hart, who had the support of current Ward 14 Councilman Joe Santiago. The meeting was held at the Hispanic Youth Center on Scranton.

As Ward Club Leader, Cintron says he plans to first get together with all the precinct representatives to discuss issues important to Ward 14. Cintron said he would work closely with the party to make things happen in Ward 14.  Cintron said he would also like to say thank you to Ward Club members for their long time support of the late Bob Woodworth, the former Ward Club leader.
