Hard Hatted Women gets federal funds for training program

(Plain Press, August 2006) Cleveland-based Hard Hatted Women, Inc.’s Pre-Apprenticeship Training and Career Development Program has been awarded $75,000 from the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA). Hard Hatted Women, which serves northeast Ohio, will use the funds to advance its programs that introduce and recruit women into construction and other nontraditional career fields.

Hard Hatted Women’s Pre-Apprenticeship Training strives to make that critical difference by providing women with life skills, social services and technical training to prepare them for careers in construction and skilled trade fields. The program focuses on job coaching, life skills and barrier removal.

The Pre-Apprenticeship Training builds and maintains strong partnerships with apprenticeship coordinators, employers and the workforce development community.
