Volunteers of America gets federal grant to help homeless vets

(Plain Press, July 2006) The U.S. Department of Labor will be awarding a $300,000 grant to the Volunteers of America of Northeast, Ohio to help homeless veterans as part of the department’s Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP). As a first year or new grantee, Volunteers of America will be eligible (based on continued performance) to receive the same amount of funding for the next three years.

The HVRP program requires grantees to maintain relationships and use all available resources and linkages in the local community. Successful HVRP programs focus on partnering with HUD, VA, HHS, local faith-based and community organizations, and social service agencies.
