Franklin Avenue paint plant site examined for environmental cleanup

(Plain Press, July 2006) In the May 29th issue of Crain’s Cleveland Business, an article by Jay Miller reported that the state of Ohio has awarded $152,290 to the City of Cleveland to do an environmental assessment of the former site of Acorn Chemical Company at 8001 Franklin. Acorn Chemical, a paint company that once occupied the site, was destroyed by fire. Miller reports that Rysar properties, which is developing the property next to the site into painters’ lofts, is interested in creating 20 townhouses on the site.
