Deadlines for Heating Assistance Programs extended

(Plain Press, April 2006) The deadline for applications for Emergency HEAP has been extended until April 30th. E-HEAP provides payments to eligible customers who have been disconnected or received a disconnection notice.  You can only use E-HEAP once a winter season.  Call 518-4014 for an appointment and information on required paper work. E-HEAP eligibility is set at 175% of poverty.

The deadline for applications for the regular HEAP program  has been extended until May 31st.  The eligibility for this program is also set at 175% of poverty.  Everyone who does qualify for this program will receive a credit on their gas bill.  Credits have been averaging around $300.00.

There is no obligation if you fill out a HEAP application and receive this money.  Under HEAP, you do not need to be disconnected, have a disconnection or be behind in paying your bill.  You just need to meet eligibility standards and want some help in paying this year’s heating bill.    SO DO IT NOW.  Applications are available at the May Dugan Center, most libraries and community development centers.
