Progressive Urban Real Estate celebrates 20 years of sales in the city
(Plain Press, January 2006) Progressive Urban Real Estate (PURE) celebrated its 20th anniversary on December 7th at the Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Tasting Room on Carroll Avenue. The real estate firm opened its first office in Tremont on Fairfield Avenue in 1985 and specialized in selling homes in the city of Cleveland, at a time when the city was underserved by the real estate industry. The company not only sold real estate, but also promoted an urban lifestyle as an alternative to suburban living. Its efforts helped to spur the back to the city movement that helped to revive the real estate market in Cleveland.
Progressive Urban Real Estate’s founder Keith Brown recalled his decision to start the company and how he persuaded his parents to move to Cleveland and work with him in the new business. Brown thanked the many people who worked for or with Progressive Urban Real Estate over the years marketing and developing real estate in Cleveland. Now headquartered at 4001 Detroit Avenue, PURE continues its emphasis on city living in both Cleveland and inner ring suburbs, with another office in Cleveland Heights and plans for another to open soon in Lakewood.
