School Board chooses Walworth Run property for new High School

(Plain Press, September 2005) At its August 3rd meeting the Cleveland School Board approved the purchase of the nearly 14-acre site at Walworth Run and “W. 65th for the proposed West Side “Relief” High School. The district offered West Side Industrial Expansion Network (WIRE-Net) $79,000 per acre for 12 acres on the site. For years WIRE-Net has tried to market the site to industry as part of an industrial park. The district has authorized a total of $1,050,000 for the purchase. If the evaluation of the new site deems it satisfactory, the school board will abandon the purchase of the site at W. 65th and Storer Ave. The district is negotiating with the remaining property owners.
