Serrano named LISC program manager

(Plain Press, September 2005) Leo Serrano is the new program director for the Northeast Ohio office of Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). LISC provides financial assistance and business expertise to community development corporations working to revitalize Cleveland’s neighborhoods.

For the past 3 years Serrano, age 42, served as the executive director of the Spanish American Committee (SAC), which provides social services and housing assistance to Cleveland’s Hispanic population. During his tenure at the Spanish American Committee, Serrano led the agency from a deficit to a surplus and developed a high performance executive staff. Serrano previously served as executive director of SAC from 1994-1998. Serrano has also worked as an agent for Nationwide Insurance Company and was a partner in TransAmerican Translations, which specialized in insurance claim depositions and employee safety manuals for transnational corporations.
