Volunteers of American receives funds
to help homeless veterans get jobs
(Plain Press, August 2004) The Cleveland and Cuyahoga County programs of Volunteers of America received $300,000 in its second year of funding from the federal Department of Labor’s Homeless Veteran’s Reintegration Program. (HVRP). The program is designed to reintegrate homeless veterans into the labor force. Funds are awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies, and nonprofit organizations, including faith-based and community organizations, which have familiarity with the area and population to be served and can administer an effective program.
The Volunteers of America have a West Side facility on Walton Avenue just west of W. 25 th Street .
