Valleyview HOPE VI gets funding

(Plain Press, August 2004) Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) announced on June 14 th that the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Valleyview Homes HOPE VI Project have been awarded two grants from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development totaling roughly $19.65 million. $2.2 million is to be used for demolition of 243 current Valleyview units, which were built in 1939. The remaining $17.45 million is designated for the HOPE VI revitalization of Valleyview.

Plans call for development of mixed-income housing units including tax credit and market rate rental properties, single-family homes and a spacious management facility. Valleyview Homes are located on the southeastern edge of the Tremont neighborhood overlooking Cleveland ’s industrial valley.
