Rebuilding Cleveland Together’s volunteers
help fix-up three homes in Ward 18
(Plain Press, August 2004) On Saturday June 26 th, Rebuilding Cleveland Together volunteers helped three Ward 18 homeowners rehabilitate and repair their homes. On that day over 300 local volunteers repaired ten homes in the city of Cleveland using about $40,000 in donated materials and about 3,000 hours of volunteer labor.
A volunteer team from the U.S. Navy helped make repairs on a W. 90 th Street home. Hillside Rehab Hospital ’s volunteer team helped make repairs at a home on W. 96 th Street . Volunteers from Key Bank and the Notre Dame Club worked on a home on W. 100 th Street .
Rebuilding Together is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and repair of homes owned by low-income individuals and families, particularly the elderly and disabled. Rebuilding Together builds partnerships between the business community, nonprofit organizations, community development corporations and volunteers to assist low-income homeowners free of charge so that they can continue to live in the warmth and safety of their own homes. The organization selects homes to repair and rehabilitate on one day each year.
