Operation Clean Sweep makes arrests at Lakeview Terrace

(Plain Press, June 2004) The Cuyahoga County Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) announced that on Tuesday May 4 th that 37 individuals were arrested in a five-hour period at Lakeview Terrace housing development as part of Operation Clean Sweep. Lakeview Terrace, owned and operated by CMHA, is located just north of Detroit along W. 25 th Street .

Those arrested included 13 residents of communities throughout Cuyahoga County , as well as 24 public housing residents. In the course of the operation weapons and narcotics were also seized. CMHA officials say the housing authority will move rapidly to begin eviction proceedings against any CMHA residents who were arrested for violent crimes or drug activity.

Operation Clean Sweep targets individuals with active felony and misdemeanor warrants. It is a cooperative effort between various law enforcement agencies. The following organizations participated in this joint operation: the CMHA Police, the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General, the State of Ohio Adult Parole Authority , the Cleveland Police Department, the Shaker Heights Police Department, the Euclid Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
