Additional parking spots proposed for W. 25th and Clark

(Plain Press, June 2004) Forty-one new parking places are planned for the southwest corner of W. 25 th and Clark Avenue . New landscaping and a new bus shelter are also part of the plans being drawn up, says CMDC Commercial Director Abraham Bruckman.

When Third Federal Savings and Loan closed its branch at 3116 W. 25 th Street last year, it donated the building to Clark Metro Development Corporation. (CMDC) The Board of Trustees of CMDC decided the expense of renovating the building was too high and chose to demolish it.

Now CMDC is planning to create 41 parking places on the site. Initial plans call for the parking lot entrance to be on Clark Avenue , although there will be pedestrian access to W. 25 th from the parking lot. Bruckman says restricting access from W. 25 th to pedestrians only was planned to avoid the hazard of vehicles using the lot as a cut through to get to Clark Avenue .

To enhance W. 25th in front of the parking lot, plans call for an eight-foot landscaped green space. Bruckman says a formal request for a bus shelter and repositioned bus stop has been sent to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA).
