Neighborhood Tour

The area that became North Collinwood was first settled in 1812. With the establishment of several vineyards, by the 1870s the Collinwood area had become the largest shipping point in the nation for grapes. In the 1890s the area’s main economic activity was replaced by railroads. Population peaked for this neighborhood in 1930 (27,878) and over the next 6 decades population has decreased 30.7%. Since then the neighborhood has experienced an increase in population of about 2.6%. This trend is expected to increase due in large part to an increase in lakefront housing and an abundance of nearby parks and quality commercial businesses.
