Fair Housing Act Title VIII

US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
- The mission of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is to increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination. Learn about how HUD ensures equal access to housing, guarantees equal opportunity in all HUD programs and prohibits, to a limited extent, discrimination in employment with respect to HUD programs.
US Department of Justice: Housing and Civil Enforcement Section
- The US Department of Justice is responsible for enforcing anti-discrimination legislation including the the Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in housing, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, which prohibits discrimination in credit, and Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination in certain places of public accommodation, such as hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and theaters.
