Doan Brook Watershed Partnership Committees

Standing Committees

Executive Committee

Comprised of the Partnership president, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, with duties as described in Partnership regulations

On occasion, as needed, meets to discuss partnership activities and to prepare recommendations for Board consideration

Acts as a sounding board and provides guidance for Director, especially with regard to committee operations, strategic planning, finances, and action plan updates and progress

Reviews annual budge prior to presentation to full Board

Assists with operational matters (e.g. providing office space and other in-kind support)

Partnership Outreach Committee

Promotes Partnership to civic groups, churches, individuals, etc and encourages/recruits new partners

Helps recruit volunteers for project

Helps plan and carry out outreach and fundraising events

Assists with quarterly newsletters and brochure design and mailing

Watershed Education Committee

Plans and carries out watershedwide educational programs (e.g. lawn care certification, volunteer stream monitoring)

Helps cities satisfy Phase II Stormwater public education and outreach requirements

Helps organize outreach events (e.g. Music BytheBrook concerts)

Prepares Doan Brook Watershed informational fact sheets<

Assists with Partnership newsletters (coordinating with Director and Partnership Outreach Committee)

Watershed Restoration and Plan Implementation Committee

Tracks progress of the Action Plan for the Doan Brook Watershed to ensure that milestones are being met and recommends adjustments to the Plan for Board consideration

Works with Director to prepare revisions to future Action Plan updates

Serves as a forum for watershed restoration projects and other related initiatives (a clearinghouse for new ideas)

At times, coordinates resources and undertakes or assists with restoration projects.

City Services and Capital Projects Committees

Is comprised of the city public works/service department, capital improvements and water pollution control managers

Coordinates on current and planned projects having the potential to affect the Doan Brook (e.g. sewer and road improvements, public properties management, private development projects)

Shares information and pools resources, to the degree possible, for Phase II Stormwater regulation permitting and implementation

Coordinates plans for management of areas of common interest to cities and other organizations (e.g. the Shaker Parklands).

Monitoring, Mapping and Technical Studies Committee

Comprised primarily of government and university staff as well as representatives of institutions (e.g. Cleveland Museum of Natural History) and interested citizens

Assists Director with management of water quality and other resource databases

Provides mapping and other technical support

Identifies data gaps and project needs

Coordinates and shares information on current and planned research and other scientific studies

Studies and provides evaluation of ongoing projects

Collects and maintains library of cutting-edge watershed restoration practices

AD HOC Committee

Action Plan Drafting Committee

Researches past studies and plans on the Doan Brook (including NEORSD Study Committee reports) as well as outside information

Assists Director in preparing and reviewing drafts of the Action Plan for the Doan Brook Watershed prior to broader review and comment

Nominating Committee

Solicits Board candidates as vacancies arise and proposes Board members for consideration by full Board.

Proposes officers and committee chairs/co-chairs to full Board.

OEPA 319 Grant Technical Advisory Committee

Multidisciplinary group that advises and assists Partnership with technical aspects of the Partnership's Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Sec. 319 grant
