The Cudell-West Boulevard neighborhoods have a wide
variety of shopping and dining areas serving residents and visitors.
Westown Shopping Center
The Westown Shopping Center on Lorain Avenue includes the Giant Eagle
grocery store (http://www.gianteagle.com),
a Blockbusters video store, several smaller retailers, banks and fast-food
restaurants--McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Pizza Hut.
Lorain Avenue
One of the city's longest streets, Lorain Avenue literally links downtown
Cleveland to the western suburbs. In the Cudell-West Boulevard areas,
it is home to many businesses and services --- including a flower shop,
coin-operated laundry, a service station, an auto parts store, a furniture
store, a clothing store, a nursery, professional offices, and more. You
can check out shopping along the full length of the avenue at: http://www.discoverlorainave.com
Lorain Avenue also is home to an antique district that spills over from
the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood next door to the Lorain Train Station
district (see:http://lorainstation.nhlink.net).
West 117th Street
The freeway access and RTA stops along W. 117th Street probably
account for its popularity with residents and visitors alike. On the south,
is Luchita's, one of the city's finest Mexican restaurants (3456 W. 117th
St., Cleveland, OH 44111, 216-252-1169, Website: http://www.luchita.com).
Moving north, you encounter Target, the Home Depot and Staples shopping
areas just to the west. Bordering Bird Town in Lakewood, this section
of the street also has numerous small shops and services for residents.
Madison Avenue
Madison Avenue over the years has seen numerous ethnic establishments--Irish,
Chinese, Mexican and others. Today, it is home to Villa y Zapata Restaurant
& Lounge (8505 Madison Ave.), another fine Mexican restaurant, a lumberyard
(Cleveland Lumber Co., 9410 Madison Ave., 216-961-5550, website: http://www.clevelandlumber.net),
pharmacies, and other shops.
Detroit Avenue
Moving east from the Lakewood border, Detroit Avenue hosts a Pizza Hut,
Arabica coffee shop (11604 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, OH 44111, 216-521-6793,
Website: http://www.arabicacoffeeinc.com),
The Cleveland Shop--with its vintage clothing (11606 Detroit Ave., 216-228-9725,
website: http://www.clevelandshop.com),
and a variety of other shops, restaurants, and services.
West Boulevard
West Boulevard stretches from Lake Erie through Cudell and West Boulevard
almost to the neighborhood's southern border. Although it is lined primarily
by fine homes and stately trees, it too has a few shops and restaurants.
